Project ADHD and The One Room Challenge

I’m popping in real quick this evening to talk about some of the projects I’m working on right now.  Lately I’ve had a major case of Project ADHD.

Last week I finally painted my hallway that goes from the foyer to the kitchen (something I’ve wanted to do since last year–here are my inspiration photos) but I have yet to add the woodwork.  I still can’t decide what wood trim I want to do yet but hey at least it is painted (well almost all the way painted).:-)

Even though my hallway is unfinished it didn’t stop me from beginning to fiddle around with my family room.  Lately it’s just felt off, like it’s needs some refreshing or change or additional decorative layers.  So I’ve been putting energy into trying to make it feel ‘right’ in there…

Here it is not feeling quite right–

And simultaneously I’ve continued to slooowly plug away on my basement/kid’s rec room makeover. Below is the before and yes the previous owners painted the baseboards red!  My goal is for the room to not look so much like a basement but a cool kid’s hangout!  Wish me luck!:-)

I find I tend to pile on multiple projects when I’m being indecisive.  I’ll get stuck in a project so I’ll move on to another until I can figure the other one out and then just bounce around until they all get finished.  It’s enough to make my head spin at times!:-)

I’ve decided to take part in the One Room Challenge this month. In case you haven’t heard of it, it’s run by Linda from Calling It Home. She invites 20 interior designers to make over one room in six weeks.  She also invites all bloggers who want to participate to join in the fun.

In the middle of each week she has updates on her site with the progress everyone’s made that week.  I’ve been wanting to get the basement done so the kids can have a place to hangout once the cold weather hits.

I need to pick up my speed if I’m going achieve my goal of it being finished by Winter.  I’m thinking participating in this challenge will help keep me motivated and on track!

And heck if I can figure out my family room maybe I’ll do it at the same time (in good old fashion project overload style).:-)

Do you ever get project ADHD?  Do you have any rooms you need to buckle down on before the Holiday Season hits?  Feel free to join along!!

P.S.  I still have another post coming this Friday and I cant wait to share it!!!!  Hint: It has something to with what is in the package below.  My cat is curious, are you?:-)

I’m with you girl! My husband almost spit out his dinner when I told him I was doing the ORC because our house is torn up with all sorts of other projects going on! The basement is a perfect project for you to tackle – the ORC will be great motivation to get it done before the weather turns south!
