38 Go-To Paint Colors for Your Home!

38 Go-To Paint Colors for Your Home!

The past several months I’ve been compiling a list of paint colors that I would call the best Go-To-Paint Colors around right now (and likely for very many years to come). I wanted to give you the cliffs notes version to paint colors!  Sometimes the number of paint color options can be enough to make your head spin (in rainbow colors)! It might sound easy enough to pick a paint color but then you have a billion different hues with a billion different undertones and intensities.  It makes me feel anxious just talking about it.:-) This post is meant to help save you time and headaches from paint color option paralysis by giving you 38 tried and true beautiful paint colors to begin with rather than millions! I hope it helps!!  Please feel free to ask questions and if you want to share your favorite go-to paint colors in the comment section I would love to hear them!   38 Beautiful Go-To Paint Colors WHITE 1 Behr Pure White–  This is what I use for all of my trim,…

Beat up Table Turned Beautiful Farmhouse Table

Beat up Table Turned Beautiful Farmhouse Table

I recently helped my friend, Heather, transform her beat up kitchen table into a beautiful farmhouse table.  Her 13 year old daughter is obsessed with the Fixer Upper show and Joanna Gaine’s style.  She asked if I would help her daughter with a project she had found on Pinterest where Diana from Our Vintage Home Love had taken off the top of their existing table and replaced it with a farmhouse-styled top. \ via Our Vintage Home Love My friend, Heather, had a sturdy table with beautiful legs but the tabletop had taken a beating over the years with four young kids. With all of the screws under her table we thought for sure it meant we would be able to remove the tabletop however after taking a good looksy underneath we realized the top was going nowhere! As I was thinking about what to do the idea came to me…why don’t don’t we just install the wood planks right over the existing table top! So that’s exactly what we did! Before And the Afters…

A Beautiful Master Bedroom Makeover for Lolly

A Beautiful Master Bedroom Makeover for Lolly

I’m excited to share Lolly’s bedroom makeover today!  Lolly is a friend who I’ve been helping makeover her house one room at a time. We started with the Powder Bathroom, then the Laundry Room, and now her Master Bedroom.  All of these makeovers have been done on a budget! I do the interior design planning and Lolly does most of the DIY.  It has been fun for me to see how her hard work has been paying off!! Here are the before shots.         And now the After!               There are several ways we saved money on this makeover.  To begin, the drapes were only $5 per a”panel” (they are made from flat sheets).  Hanging them 2-4 inches from the ceiling is a trick to making drapes look more expensive and the ceiling appear taller!     Lolly bought the bench at a stager’s sale for only $45 and the chandelier at a garage sale for $10.  It was super brassy.   We spray painted the…

Boys Bedroom Makeover Reveal

Boys Bedroom Makeover Reveal

Hello!  I hope you’ve had a great week!  This week I’m excited to share my youngest son’s “big boy” room makeover reveal!  My son is almost three years old and was ready to move from his crib to a big boy bed!  Can you tell he is proud of his new big boy room (or maybe he is just wondering if Mom is ever going to stop taking pictures of his room)?:-)   As a reminder below was his bedroom as a nursery.   And here is a photo of the bedroom before we moved in.   And here is the now!   The bed was free from a friend who was moving and didn’t want to take it.  It sat in my basement for a couple of years until we were ready to use it.   It had some screws showing and was kind of plain so I decided dress it up with some DIY faux drawer fronts.   I think it gives it a much more “expensive” look.   The knitted blanket at…

The Importance of Architectural Details & DIY Media Wall Unit

The Importance of Architectural Details & DIY Media Wall Unit

Hello!  In the design course I’m taking right now I’ve learned that it is ideal (but of course not always possible) for each room you decorate to have an architectual feature.  Possible architectual features include fireplaces, woodwork, archways, beams on ceilings, crown molding, a bay window, built-in bookcases and the list goes on! Here are some examples! The ceiling woodwork, unique windows and window cabinets, and custom island. Photo by RLH Studio via Houzz   The built-in entry storage cabinetry and french doors. Painting Wood Furniture (without sanding or priming)!

Painting Wood Furniture (without sanding or priming)!

Hello!! I hope you’ve all had a great week! As you know I am in the middle of a handful projects right now (and in a variety of rooms). This week I unexpectedly added another room to my project list!  My youngest son’s crib broke last week!  We were planning on moving him to a big boy bed in the next couple of months anyways so instead of trying to fix it we decided to go ahead and make the transition. The timing actually worked out well!  My friend Erin (you can view her gorgeous home tour, Here) and I are taking an online interior design course.  In the course we have to design a bedroom as one of our assignments. I have been working on my friend, Lolly’s, master bedroom (which we only have one thing left to do–build a sliding barn door). And Erin is now helping me turn my son’s nursery into a “big boy’s” room. Here is a little mood board Erin put together for his room.   I love how…

How to Replace a Hollywood Light with 2 Vanity Lights & How to Patch a Hole in the Wall like a Pro

How to Replace a Hollywood Light with 2 Vanity Lights & How to Patch a Hole in the Wall like a Pro

In homes built across America the builder-basic bathroom vanity light consists of a light coined, the “hollywood light”. Although they give off a great amount of light they aren’t what I would call elegant or stylish!  When trying to achieve the look of the following bathrooms you can imagine how the “hollywood light” would get in the way of getting the same look!   Legacy CDM Inc. via Houzz Veranda Interiors via decorpad via BHG For the past 4 years (since we moved into our house) we have had a large 8 bulb hollywood light in our master bathroom that has been a bit of an eyesore. I made sure our hollywood light didn’t show up in my home tour because I felt like it ruined the look (sneaky, I know).:-)   As I mentioned in a previous post I found some pretty Pottery Barn look-a-like vanity lights at Home Depot for just $29.99 a piece.  I really didn’t want to have to pay an electrician $200+ to change the hollywood light into two over the…

Foyer and Hallway Makeover Reveal!

Foyer and Hallway Makeover Reveal!

I hope you’ve had a great week!  I am excited to finally be sharing my hallway and foyer makeover today!!  For those who have been here for awhile you know this has been a loooong time coming.  My foyer and main hallway that connects to the foyer were on my to-do list in 2015. In fact on December 17th 2014 I wrote THIS post on 20 white entries to inspire  (they are super inspiring..be sure to check them out if you haven’t yet)!  I loved each and everyone of them but couldn’t seem to pull the trigger in my own home. What was stopping me you may ask?  Fear (and indecision because of fear)!  After dragging my feet for awhile I finally made myself start the process by painting the hallway white, then I added the faux crown molding, then I painted the two story foyer Simply White, but the last part was the most difficult to decide. For the life of me I couldn’t decide what kind of trim to do in the hallway…

DIY Pet Feeder- 3 Different Style Options!

DIY Pet Feeder- 3 Different Style Options!

Today I am sharing a DIY that has been a game changer in our home (particularly for our laundry room)!  Ever since I laid eyes on a wooden pet feeder I’ve wanted one (but man they can be expensive)! Buckenmeyer Architecture via Houzz   I love their clean, streamlined, sophisticated look!  Before this DIY (for years and years) our cat used a mat with mismatching food and water bowls atop. Not to mention several half chewed food crumbs surrounding the outside of the bowl (I hope your not reading this while eating lunch)!:-) Whenever I came into the laundry room where we keep our cat “stuff” I was kind of “eh” about what I saw but now after making a feeder i’m like “oh, yeah”!   My cat must like it too because she no longer eats like a ravenous pig!  It’s so pretty that she must want to keep it clean because seriously overnight– no more gross crumbs!  Okay, or maybe the more plausible reason is because it’s height is now a more comfortable level to…
