Three Years Ago Today…

Three years ago today I published my first blog post (you can check it out HERE if you are interested).;-)  I had no idea what I was doing, just that I wanted to share something that was bringing me a lot of joy in my life…something that I call the 3 D’s…Decorating, DIY, and Design.

I am a visual person and I am very influenced by my surroundings.  If my home is dark, drab, and cluttered then I feel heavy and weighed down emotionally.

On the other hand if my home is light and airy and uncluttered I feel uplifted and buoyed up.  No matter how petty this trait seems there’s no denying that it is a part of me (anybody else wired this way??).

Being a full-time “stay-at-home” mom (and a home body at heart) it is even more important to me that my home is a place that is visually beautiful and encouraging because I am in it a lot!:-)

When I first realized this about myself years ago I didn’t have much money to  spend on making my home beautiful.  I would look through Pottery Barn catalogs and feel so inspired by the beauty there but not be able to afford one thing (however, I’m so cheap thrifty at heart that I don’t know if I could ever pay full price for something at Pottery Barn no matter how much money I had).

Learning and studying the 3 D’s (Decorating, DIY, and Design) has given me the ability to create a beautiful home on a budget and has been truly empowering.

For the past 3 years this blog has been a place where I can share the things that I am learning along the way in hopes that it might help you be able to do the same in your home.

I want to continue to do this in ways that are helpful to you. So this is where I need your help!

What do you not know about decorating or DIY that is holding you back from achieving a beautiful home?  If you could spend just a few minutes pondering this question and then email me your answer(s) at providenthomedesign@gmail.com I would appreciate it so much!

Also, I want to let you know that I’ve created an additional website.  It is a website that teaches visual learners and non-techies (like me) step by step how to start a blog or website.  It’s not a blog that I will be posting to but a static resource site there for anyone who wants help starting a blog/website.

Blogging has blessed my life and I want to help others be able to start a blog or website if that is their desire.

It is www.how2startablog.com.

Feel free to check it out and share it with friends and family that you think may benefit from it!

Again, don’t forget to leave me a message in the comments or to my email providenthomedesign@gmail.com telling me what types of posts help you the most, what aspects of DIY, decorating, or design do you want to hear more about this year, and/or what DIY or decorating skills are you lacking that are making it hard for you to be content with your home or space?

As always I SO appreciate you for being here!!
