Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year
Pantone is a corporation which dictates the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer worldwide.
Traditionally Pantone determines one color for the upcoming year that they believe will trend in graphics, fashion, and home decor. The 2015 color of the year was recently announced to be (drum roll), ‘Marsala’.
Marsala is a rich color full of warmth and passion. This bold color carries an air of elegance, sophistication, and drama. It closely resembles colors such as burgundy, red plum, cranberry, crimson, and maroon.
When it comes to fashion I must admit I’m a bit in love with it.

However, in home fashion for me a little bit goes a long way. Here are 5 ways Marsala can be successfully incorporated into your home decorating.

In choosing this collection of photos I noticed I like Marsala best against white walls and paired with grays, blues, and beiges. Will I being adding Marsala to my home this year? Probably not, but I’ve learned to never say never so there’s always a possibility.
And, yes, I had to add a Marsala border to our Christmas card (lol)!

I love the color! We will adopt the color for our upcoming reunion on April. Amazingly beautiful!♡♡♡
I agree, Gabriela, it is a very rich and beautiful color!
Do you know if a paint company is producing this color yet? I just might be the right shade of “berry” or
red for my kitchen. It seems to have a lot of energy. Thanks
Hi, Cynthia! I agree this color is definitely high energy. This link gives 7 good matches to the Marsala color. One of them was Behr Awning Red but they were all good matches so it’s worth looking through all of them.

I think Marsala on the walls looks dated. We painted our kitchen walls a very similar color (c. 2000), and finally painted over it this past year with a light cream. I am so glad it’s gone! It was sucking all the light out of the room. I don’t mind Marsala as an accent, though, but you’re right… a little goes a long way!
